Recently, Alabama’s Chapter of NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement) awarded Wenonah High senior student JaKyrie M. Chaney the Deputy Chief Leroy Stover Scholarship for Arts & Sciences.
The day was a celebratory one as members of NOBLE and Wenonah High School staff came together to award such an amazing student.
NOBLE President Michael Williams sent his salutations as NOBLE Vice President Officer Roy Harris congratulated Chaney with warm appreciation of the student’s achievements and studious efforts.
NOBLE spokesperson and former Birmingham Police Chief Annetta Nunn spoke with us, saying, “We’re proud to present Mr. Chaney the scholarship today on behalf of NOBLE. This is an endeavor of ours where we present scholarships to ten students each year that compete for it, and it exemplifies the purpose of NOBLE and honoring our high school students within Alabama.”
Chaney also spoke on behalf of the day’s triumph, stating, “It’s an honor to receive such an award especially knowing that many others applied for such. I honestly didn’t think I’d win, but I’m deeply honored and would like to thank the NOBLE Organization and my Wenonah staff and my family for their support.”
Wenonah High counselor Michelle McFarland also spoke to us regarding Mr. Chaney, stating, “I’m just so proud of JaKyrie because he’s one of the most humble and respective students I’ve ever come across. His passion and astute behavior has paid off for him in a big way, and I’d like to tell other students like Mr. Chaney, to always remain humble and put GOD in front of you always.”
We congratulate JaKyrie Chaney as he sets his collegiate sights on Alabama State University, majoring in Criminal Justice and as a football player for the Hornets.
We wish him much future success and all of our students set to graduate this year, as we also send appreciation to the noble and upstanding efforts of the Alabama Chapter of the NOBLE organization.
