District One, Bessemer City Councilman Jarvis Collier is committed to the Boy Scouts of America organization.
Founded in 1910, the mission of the organization is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
A resolution appropriating funds from District One Jarvis Collier’s Discretionary Fund Budget Line-Item to the Greater Alabama Council— Boy Scouts of America was adopted by the Bessemer City Council.
Councilman Collier requested that the City appropriate funds in the amount of $250.00 from District One Discretionary Fund Line-Item number 001-10000-021-527067.
At a regularly scheduled meeting of the Bessemer City Council with a quorum being present, it was determined that providing support to the Greater Alabama Council serves a public purpose and benefits the general welfare of the community.
