Bbq and Blues Festival

Barbeque and Blues are a winning combination.

The 15th Annual Bob Sykes BBQ & Blues Festival will take place on Saturday, April 25, at DeBardeleben Park in downtown Bessemer. A good time will be had by all at the festival that was established in 2010.

The gates open at 11 a.m., with the music starting at noon. The festival will close at 6 p.m.

The fun-filled, thrilling festival is presented by the City of Bessemer and Coca Cola United.

Owner of Bob Sykes B-B-Q, Van Sykes, stated, “Each year the festival grows, and we could not do the festival without our sponsors and the support of the community.”

General admission tickets are available for $10 at www.bobsykesblues.com or by visiting Bob Sykes B-B-Q Restaurant in Bessemer. Tickets will cost $15 on the day of the event.

Featured in this year’s lineup performing live Blues music are:
Li’l Ed & the Blues Imperials, Selwyn Birchwood, Karen Wolfe, Dexter Allen, and Rick Harris. Aretta Woodruff will be the emcee.

Bessemer Mayor Kenneth Gulley said, “The Bob Sykes BBQ & Blues Festival has been a great event for the city of Bessemer.”

There will be many wonderful vendors in the park selling a plethora of merchandise. Of course, Bob Sykes barbeque will be available along with many delicious sides.

The public will also enjoy arts and crafts booths along with many interesting outdoor exhibits. There will be a large Kids’ Corner with activities and games.
