Doing the Lord’s work, Greater 14th Street Baptist Church in Bessemer has remained faithful in serving the community.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, members of the church arrived early to prepare for another food box giveaway at the church, 418 14th Street South. They gave away 175 boxes that day.
Tobithean Alexander is chairman of the food box giveaway, assisted by First Lady Lola Burgines. The Rev. Dr. Jiles Burgines III is pastor of Greater 14th Street Baptist Church.
The food boxes are donated by the Central Alabama Food Bank on Lakeshore Drive.
“We are again grateful to be able to assist the community with our food box giveaway program,” Alexander said. “Today the need remains great.”
Along with the food boxes, the church’s Food Outreach Ministry now offers a Prayer Lane for anyone in need of prayer, led by the deacons.
