The Bessemer City Council has approved the purchase of two Pierce Enforcer pumper trucks for the Bessemer Fire Department, finding the purchase in the city’s best interest.
The council said the trucks will improve the readiness, reliability and effectiveness of the fire department and promote the public health, safety and welfare of the city’s citizens.
The custom-built trucks will be ordered from Pierce Manufacturing in Wisconsin at a purchase price of $2,197,534 for the two. Delivery is expected in the early part of 2028.
The new trucks will replace Engines 2 and 5. The order includes firefighting equipment, safety equipment, warning devices, communication equipment, accessories, pumping capacity and warranties.
Councilman Chester W. Porter moved to approve Resolution No. 919-26, Councilwoman Sarah B. Person seconded, and the motion carried.
