Happy 75th birthday, Judy Moore Mathis. This birthday is your diamond jubilee.

This grand milestone celebrates a wonderful life filled with love, happiness, carefree days, excitement, Christian values and many precious memories of family and friends.

Longtime owner of Moore Coal Company Inc. in Bessemer, Judy is a delightful and pleasant lady with a kind, generous heart who has blessed so many people in so many ways. She is loved and cherished by all.

Recently, her children, Dr. Ruth Mathis of Columbus, Georgia, and Woody and Kasey Mathis of Bessemer, hosted a surprise birthday party at Brick & Tin in Mountain Brook.

And what a surprise! Judy was really surprised.

Among the 60 guests were Judy’s AOPi sorority sisters from the University of Alabama, Cheryl Brantly, Carolyn O’Donnell, Maureen O’Donnell and Janie Mikloucich, and her oldest friend from childhood, Karen Davis Foss of Rome, Georgia.

Along with dear friends from Georgia, there were also old friends from Texas and Florida.
