The Bessemer Municipal election is Tuesday, August 25. The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

The election is for the office of mayor, city council and school board.
Seeking the office of mayor are incumbent Mayor Kenneth E. Gulley, Louise Alexander, Darral Bethel and Brenita Lewis.
Running for City Council District 1 are incumbent Jarvis Collier and Michael Knight.
City Council District 3 has incumbent Sarah Bell Person against Cynthia Donald.
Seeking re-election in City Council District 4 is incumbent Donna Thigpen against Rhonda Brantley.
Running in City Council District 5 are incumbent Teco Stephens and Kelvin Eades.
Seeking re-election in City Council District 6 is incumbent Carla Jackson against Tonia Miller, Lakia Reeves and Valerie Williams.
In City Council District 7, incumbent Cleo King is running against Silas Baldwin and Howard Acoff, Jr.
Running for School Board District 1 are Elaine Holifield and David Vance.
Seeking re-election for School Board District 2 is incumbent Terry Dawson against Remeka Little.
Running for School Board District 5 are incumbent Margie Varner, Omar Chapman, Geortez Jackson, Fanchon Muhammad, Jerri Lynn Scott and Kermilia Whitehead.
Seeking election for School Board District 6 are Darryl Aikerson, Grover Dunn, Gail Harris, William Lewis and Monterrius Lowe.
In School Board District 7, incumbent Lee Jones is seeking re-election against Carolyn Hudson Wilson.
