Glenda Allred appointed Tourism Director for Alabama

Lee Sentell, Alabama’s longest-serving Director of Tourism, has announced his retirement.

Appointed in 2003, Sentell was committed to promoting the state’s tourism industry and in so doing, significantly increased the state’s tourism revenue.

Governor Ivey has appointed Glenda Allred as Director of Tourism for the remainder of the Ivey Administration. Prior to the appointment, Allred served as the Deputy State Treasurer.

“I am excited to have Glenda join the Ivey Administration to lead our state’s tourism office. Glenda will be a fantastic addition to our team as we finish strong these next six months,” said Gov. Ivey.

A 1991 Huntingdon College graduate, Allred serves on the Huntingdon Board of Trustees. She worked for 15 years in the private sector with a bank holding company, managing media relations, shareholder relation, publications to shareholders and advertising for a 72-branch franchise in Alabama.
