The Bessemer Fire Department has recently made three in-house shift-operations promotions.
The first promotion was made on July 26 at the Bessemer Fire Department’s Administrative Building on Second Avenue, North.
Captain Christopher Bostock was promoted to battalion chief by Bessemer Fire Chief Kendric Hughley.
Bostock, 39, is stationed at Bessemer Fire Station #1 on 18th Street, North. He has been with the fire department since 2010.
“I am honored to have been chosen as battalion chief for the great city of Bessemer by Chief Hughley and Bessemer Mayor Kenneth Gulley,” stated Bostock.
A 2009 graduate of Miles College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, his duties include managing CShift operations, 26 firefighters, overseeing major hazardous scenes and working with Recruit School rookies.
Originally from West End, it is his goal to serve the city and his fellow firefighters.
