Dr. Valerie Wood and the “Phenomenal Women.” (Above)
“This is the day we show what we do everyday as a sisterhood. We’re there for one another in good and bad times, especially in moments such as these when the uncertain shows up and this month is when we share stories of inspiration and remembrance from and to many,” is what Dr. Valerie Wood recently told us.
This past Sunday Apostle Leonard Wood and True Worship Ministries held their annual Phenomenal Women In Worship program which honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The program started with their Call to Worship service as Sister Frances B. Brown served as Mistress of Order.
Sister Myrah Moore shared the memorial remembrance as LaSandra Connor and Monica Barham carried out the honors presentation portion of the program.
Cancer Survivor honors went to Erma Armstead, Tracy Haynes, Kimberly Herlong, Linda Saunders, Adrienne Johnson, Priscilla Martin, Cheryl Adams, Thelma P. Brown and Patricia Robinson.
Sister LaSandra told us, “This event means much to us, not only because we honor our breast cancer survivors but we feel it’s a form of giving God honor and praise for His goodness as well. We also like to remember those who fought a good fight yet aren’t with us today, as it’s also a call to learn as much necessary about this disease not only for our women but for our men to be aware of it as well.”
We send condolences to those we have lost to breast cancer yet also take time to honor our many survivors.
