U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell announced on Thursday, June 18, that she secured an additional $6,983,968 in federal funding for nine community projects in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District in the remaining Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) funding bills approved by the House Appropriations Committee. This is in addition to the $5 million previously announced in the FY27 Transportation-HUD Appropriations Act. The bills will now go to the full House for consideration.

The funding was included in FY27 Agriculture-Rural Development, Commerce-Justice-Science, Interior-Environment, and Labor, Health and Human Services appropriations bills approved by the House Appropriations Committee earlier this month. These investments are intended to strengthen healthcare access, improve public safety, support workforce development, and modernize critical infrastructure throughout Jefferson County, Tuscaloosa, and the Black Belt.

“Whether it’s helping a rural hospital keep its doors open, ensuring an ambulance is available when someone faces an emergency, equipping law enforcement with the tools they need to keep communities safe, or investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals, these projects address some of the most pressing needs facing Alabama’s 7th Congressional District,” said Rep. Sewell. “I am proud to have secured funding for these local projects, and I will continue working to ensure they are passed by Congress and signed into law.”
