At a recent meeting of the Bessemer City Council, it was determined that certain structures in the city constitute a dangerous structure and public nuisance declaration.
One structure is located at 1024 17th Street North, parcel number 38-00-09-2-008-001-001. Another structure is located at 1920 Granville Avenue, parcel number 38-00-10-4-006-012.000.
The Chief Building Officer of the City of Bessemer inspected the structures and declared them to be public nuisances. Property owners were notified of the unsafe conditions and given 45 days to repair or demolish the structures, but failed to comply within the required timeframe.
Councilwoman Carla Jackson made a motion to approve the resolution declaring the specific structures dangerous and a public nuisance. Councilwoman Sarah Person seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
