Bluff Park Art Show returns with 123 artists on October 4

HOOVER, Al—The 62nd Annual Bluff Park Art Show will be held on October 4 at the Bluff Park Community Park, 517 Cloudland Drive. The free event, presented by the Bluff Park Art Association, is held each year on the first Saturday of October.

The show will feature 123 artists from across the United States. The mediums represented at this year’s show include clay, glass, jewelry, metalworking, painting, photography, printmaking, 2-D and 3-D mixed media, ceramics, and sculpture.

Serving as show judge this year is Todd A. Herman, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Herman will judge pieces submitted for award consideration. The top prize is the Best in Show Purchase Award, valued at $ 2,500.

The show will also feature a guest working artist, renowned sculptor Craigger Browne, Artist in Residence, Sylacauga Marble. Browne, a Vestavia Hills native, has trained and worked in France and Italy, home to some of the world’s oldest marble quarries. He now works exclusively with Alabama marble.

His work can be found in corporate and private collections on five of seven continents. Recent public works include:

  • “Madonna and Child”, St. Marks Catholic Church
  • “Once upon a Time”, Sylacauga, Alabama
  • “The Warmth of Enlightenment”, Ivy Green in Tuscumbia, Alabama

There will also be food trucks, music, and Girl Scout Troop 746 will be hosting their Kids Art Hut again. Pets kept on a leash are always welcome at the event. Parking for the show is by shuttle service.
