SOUTHERN STYLES: Hueytown Community Theatre’s homespun comedy Dearly Beloved thrills audiences

The delightful comedy Dearly Beloved will immediately evoke memories of growing up in the South; for many, their own southern hometowns.

The Hueytown Community Theatre recently presented the hit comedy, which was performed at the Hueytown Family Recreation Center on Hueytown Road.

Katsy Sellers is chairman of the Hueytown Community Theatre committee.

Featuring many unforgettable characters, the play was written by the comedic trio Jones Hope Wooten.

The production was directed by Tom Robinson and Robin Wallace.

Starring in this funny play, which premiered in 2005, are Sharon Morgan, Robin Wallace, Ashley Russell, Catherine Roberts, Tom Robinson, and Timothy Hooper.

Set in the fictional town of Fayro, Texas, Dearly Beloved introduces a curious and quirky southern family in the throes of planning a wedding for a family member.

The Futrelle family (every community has one!) has already gathered at the church when everything goes wrong. To avoid the madness, the bride and groom have left town. What ensues is hilarious.

The homespun play is a parody of family, marriage, love, and tradition in the South. Delightful!

The Hueytown Community Theatre was established for the purpose of enhancing the cultural life of the residents of Hueytown and surrounding communities. It is the only community theatre in the West Jefferson area.
