Hoover to Celebrate 27th Annual Arbor Day at Aldridge Gardens
We are encouraged to plant trees on Arbor Day. Arbor Day was first observed in America in 1872 in Nebraska.
Aldridge Gardens in Hoover will be the site for the City of Hoover’s 27th Annual Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, March 7, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Hoover Mayor Nick Derzis will issue a proclamation for Arbor Day and cut the ribbon to open the event.
The Gardens are located at 3530 Lorna Road in Hoover, and the event is hosted by the Hoover Beautification Board.
Featured activities will include a tree giveaway (one tree per household while supplies last), children’s activities, gardening and conservation vendors, children’s crafts, and food trucks.
The proper planting and caring of trees will be discussed by trained horticulturalists.
Among the trees to be given away are ginkgo biloba, bald cypress, piedmont azalea, and bur oak.
The Hoover Public Library’s Bookmobile will also be on site.
