The great Bobby Womack once made the assertion, “Who gets used to losing someone?” regarding the thought of someone’s passing — especially good-hearted, well-meaning individuals.
And we can attest to that, for we have yet to get used to bidding farewell to many.
Teresa Lynn Staggs Harris was that type of individual who left an indelible impression and genuinely made one feel welcomed, seen and cared for in her presence.
For her entire life, she lived in Homewood, where she also served the Hall-Kent Elementary family for over thirty years through their Extended Day Program.
Personally, Mrs. Teresa always seemed to want you to know that you were loved — through the simple gesture of sharing snacks or simply asking how you were feeling throughout the day. She carried herself with a calm demeanor and warm smile, the touch of such physical expressions heard within her vocal tone.
A graduate of Shades Valley High School’s Class of 1972, a wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Teresa will be well missed and forever appreciated for her genuinely calm and welcoming spirit.
Rest well, we say, dear friend.
