At a regularly scheduled meeting of the Bessemer City Council, duly assembled with a quorum present, it was agreed to authorize a request from the Bessemer Board of Education.
The Board of Education had requested the use of park grounds at Carver Park to host a Special Olympics track and field competition on Friday, April 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Carver Park is located on Second Avenue, North and Seventh Street.
The City Council recognized that the event would serve a valid purpose and promote the general welfare of the community.
Councilman Cleo King made a motion to approve the resolution authorizing the use of Carver Park. Councilwoman Carla Jackson seconded the motion. The motion carried.
