This past Sunday Bessemer residents enjoyed the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies shared byway of Bessemer’s Mayoral Office with a little help from Santa himself.
Ceremonies opened with a welcoming and prayer from Bro. Ware as many stood in honorable attention to words shared in gratitude to the Almighty.
Mr. Terry Dawson hosted the festivities as Master of Ceremony with a cheerful spirit that engaged many of the crowd members.
Mayor Gulley saluted the crowd with a fun mentioning of the Iron Bowl’s results, also giving gratitude to this year’s sponsors along with giving thanks to his supporting team, parks and recreation center staff and city employees who lent helping hands throughout the evening’s events.
Bose ear buds, air pods, bicycles, Samsung TVs, gift cards, PS5s and more were what various raffle prize winners were gifted as yells and howls were heard alongside celebratory cheers.
Bessemer’s Chamber of Commerce showered attendants with refreshments and meals as the festivities began.
And then it happened — Santa arrived with a crew of helpers to much applause and excitement from the attendees, bringing a bit of North Pole weather with him that chilled De-Bardeleben Park’s grounds.
Festive and fitting for the season, we watched as eyes lit up with joy and faces shone bright through sincere smiles as the centerpiece of the night, the Christmas Tree, became ablaze with lights that set the tone for many of us during the holidays.
We say thanks to our residents, city officials and last but not least, Santa Claus for making it a night to remember.
Happy Holidays and New Month All.
“Let’s Spread Merry Cheer With Doses of Love.”
