Thanksgiving was again a blessing for those less fortunate this year. Meeting the needs of the community at Thanksgiving by providing a home cooked meal offers hope and joy for those struggling.
The 14 annual Thanksgiving Meal program was held on Thanksgiving morning at Jess Lanier Manor in Bessemer. The annual, free meal program is sponsored by Jefferson County Commissioner Sheila Tyson, District 2 and the Prince Hall Dothan Lodge #112, District 14 in Bessemer. Roderick Harris is worshipful master of the lodge.
The Prince Hall Masons are men of the Light who follow the Light of the world.
Darryll Bouyer, past master of the historic Dothan Lodge, stated, “We are committed to serving the community with a Thanksgiving meal.”
Nearly 100 residents of the Jess Lanier Manor facility and the community were served.
Commissioner Tyson stated, “Jefferson County is devoted to supporting the community, and I am honored to be a part of today’s event.”
