The annual Veterans Day Parade is a very significant event important to all members of the Sons of the American Revolution, SAR. The SAR is committed to supporting veterans and veterans’ causes.
The 78th Annual Veterans Day Parade was held on Tuesday, November 11, in downtown Birmingham. A gorgeous day, 53 degrees with a light breeze, made for a comfortable and thrilling parade. The service of all United States veterans was honored that day.
Compatriot and veteran Greg Fanin of the Birmingham Chapter serves as chairman of the Veterans Committee and coordinated the chapter’s participation. He was pleased to be honored.
Cahaba-Coosa Chapter President Bill Carter was responsible for planning his chapter’s involvement in the parade.
This year’s theme, the 250th Anniversary of the Army, Navy and Marines, was in honor of the United States Armed Forces. Colonel David W. Sample, (ret.), U.S. Army, was parade chairman.
Among the highlights of the parade was listening to the inspiring, patriotic music played by the Marion Military Institute and Southern Preparatory Bands.
The Veterans Day Parade is always a grand patriotic and moving event.
