Recently, 500 people gave thanks and showed their gratitude for a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The line began forming at 10:30 in the morning at Bistro 19 Restaurant, 109 19th Street, North in downtown Bessemer.

The Latch and Live Foundation’s Ninth Annual Community-Wide Feed 500 event started at 11 in the morning and ended at 2 in the afternoon.

Mara R. Blackmon, owner of Bistro 19, and Elaine Holifield hosted the Thanksgiving dinner event. The general public was welcome to attend, adults and children alike.

Bessemer City Councilman Chester W. Porter and Terry Dawson sponsored the event.

Blackmon, founder of the Latch and Live Foundation, stated, “I am thrilled with the success of today’s event. This is our ninth year to serve the community.”

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and their email address is latchfoundation@gmail.com.

Holifield, chairman of the foundation, said, “We are truly grateful for this event that touches many lives. We are committed to standing united in providing support to those in need.”
