Bessemer’s Silver Boomers’ annual Thanksgiving program was festive with energy in every way this past Thursday.

Celebrating the holiday with the theme, ‘In Everything Give Thanks’ from 1st Thessalonians 5:18, Ms. Azaline Jones expounded upon such with her inspirational share to audience members titled “All About Thanksgiving.” Sister Jones put emphasis on the word/action which is gratitude, stating, “Many of us have more reasons than we realize we should be and show gratefulness for, especially to God for allowing us to enjoy days such as Thanksgiving.”

Mrs. Yana Wiggins and Ms. Merlee Ragland shared spiritual messages within the welcome and occasion portions of the ceremony, while Mr. John Wilson gave a soul-stirring rendition of “I Thank You Jesus,” in which the crowd sang along with great fervor.

Mr. Roy Brewster, Ms. Janet Collier, Pinkie Jones, and Dee Williams also entertained audience members with an acting skit centered around the message of faith and hope around a prop Thanksgiving dinner table. This was followed by a show-stopping performance featuring Ms. LaVondia Smith with the Nathifa Dance Co. & Outreach, Inc., as they performed a dance number inspired by African traditions, where hand drums and tambourines echoed in the edifice in high momentum and harmonic togetherness.

We applaud the efforts of the Silver Boomers for sharing their gifts with the Bessemer community, and we wish everyone a grand Thanksgiving to have fun while enjoying family and food.

“Stay safe and grateful among all things.”
