Bessemer enters into partnership with Film Birmingham

At a recent meeting of the Bessemer City Council, a motion was approved entering into a partnership with Film Birmingham.

The City Council recognizes the cultural, economic and promotional benefits that film and media production bring to the city.

Film Birmingham is a division of Create Birmingham and serves as the designated film office for Jefferson County. They provide coordination, support and resources for production companies seeking to film in Jefferson County.

The partnership sets forth the responsibilities of Film Birmingham and the City of Bessemer to promote filming, provide guidance to production entities and facilitate permitting procedures. There is no financial obligation on the part of the city.

Councilwoman Sarah Person made a motion to approve the partnership agreement. Councilwoman Carla Jackson and Councilman Teco Stephens seconded the motion. The motion carried.
