McAdory House on Eastern Valley Road
Jingle bells! Jingle bells! Jingle all the way! Oh! what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
Unfortunately, there will be no sleigh rides, but the singing of Christmas carols will welcome the visitors and there will be roaring fires in the fireplaces.
The West Jefferson County Historical Society’s 50th Annual Christmas Heritage Tour of Pioneer Homes will be held on Sunday, December 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is the oldest tour of historic homes in Jefferson County.
Connie Grund is president of the West Jefferson County Historical Society.
The three historic homes—the McAdory Plantation (circa 1839), the Owen Plantation (circa 1836), and the Sadler Plantation (circa 1834)—are located on Eastern Valley Road.
Featured in each historic house will be a decorated Christmas tree, fresh greenery and fruit, burning candles, and period appointments. Members of the Historical Society, dressed in period clothing, will greet the visitors.
The cost of admission is $5 per person, and tickets will be available on the day of the tour at each of the three houses. The fundraising event benefits the ongoing maintenance of the three properties.
