What is the mission of the Hoover Service Club?

Heather:
For over 50 years, the ladies of the Hoover Service Club have been serving our community. Our mission is to give aid to the needy, promote knowledge of needs, and fulfill those needs through community service grants and Hoover scholarships. We also recognize outstanding volunteer service in our community with the annual Flora Mae Pike Award.

Heather:
A native of Alabama, I was born in Dothan. My husband of 30 years, Clay Pierce, and I have lived in Hoover for over 20 years. We have three boys: Will (23), Graham (21), and Jack (19).

What are your goals as president?

Heather:
It is such an honor to serve as president of this organization with over 140 women this year. I want to educate others about the Hoover Service Club and encourage ladies to join us in our efforts. The members of the club have worked for over 50 years serving our community, and I want to continue that legacy by encouraging continued service, participation, and giving.

Do you have a favorite quote?

Heather:
One of my favorite quotes is, “If you had two of anything, give one away.”Flora Mae Pike

What is your favorite meal?

Heather:
I just love homemade vegetable soup with Mexican cornbread (my mother-in-law’s recipe) and a green bean casserole. Lane cake for dessert is such a treat around the holidays.

What is enjoyable about the organization?

Heather:
Serving with the women of HSC gives me such joy because we are a true service organization contributing directly to our local community. We see first-hand how our efforts are having a positive effect on the community.

Where do you enjoy vacationing?

Heather:
Growing up in Dothan, we would frequently go to the beach. The Gulf is still one of my favorite vacation destinations.
