The Bessemer City Council has accepted a donation from the Malik Temple No. 270 recently at a City Council meeting.
The $1,200 donation to the City of Bessemer Youth Football League is to assist in defraying registration costs for participating youth.
This donation will assist disadvantaged youth who might not otherwise be able to afford to pay the fees for the youth football league.
Malik Temple No. 270 member Erick Kennedy reported that their organization was chartered in Bessemer in 2021.
Bessemer Mayor Kenneth Gulley thanked the organization for their generous donation and stated that he intends on matching the funds from his discretionary funds account.
Councilman Chester W. Porter made a motion to approve the resolution concerning the donation. Councilwoman Carla Jackson seconded the motion. The motion carried.
