Tell me about Full Circle Rescue? Katie: I have been fostering and volunteering with animal rescue, Full Circle Rescue and Sanctuary, where I have served as a board member for nearly a year. Full Circle was established in Bessemer in 2023, and Heather Wyatt is the executive director. We provide veterinary care, food, toys and anything else a foster family might require. All of our dogs are presently residing in foster homes. This arrangement enables us to better understand each dog’s personality and behavior. Obedient Companions K9 Training, Victor Olivo has recently partnered with the rescue program.

How many dogs are you currently fostering? Katie: I currently have three amazing dogs that are looking for their forever families.

Do you have a favorite quote? Katie: Mark Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

What gives you joy? Katie: There is immense joy in seeing a foster dog with a new family and witnessing the smiles of the adopting families. Being part of giving dogs a second chance is truly rewarding.

Talk about your family? Katie: I am a mother to one son Justin, 29, and also have an uncle Paul Chisolm.

How can people get involved? Katie: One way is to open your home up to a dog in need. You can go to our website www.fullcirclerescueandsanctuary.com and submit a foster application. Also, volunteering at adoption events is a great way to get involved. Lastly, because we are a non-profit, donations are always needed and appreciated.

What is your favorite meal? Katie: I truly love a delicious, good home-cooked meal. My favorites are mac and cheese, fried okra, blackeyed peas and mashed potatoes.
